It's hard, but in a good way! My arrogant self thought I'd start on Level 1 and breeze through it and be ready for Level 2 the next day...WRONG! I just did day 2 yesterday and I think I am more sore today! It's days like this when I wish my house wasn't a 2-story.

2. Each workout is only 20 minutes long!!!! This is the main reason I wanted this particular workout DVD. My time is a hot commodity around my house in the evenings, I mean I get home at 5:00, there's dinner to start, a 3 year old to entertain, laundry to be done, dishes to be cleaned, etc. I had recently tried a 90 day program and the workouts are 50 minutes, that's a lot for every night. I couldn't find/make the time for that. Here's a breakdown of how the workouts go: There are 3 Levels, there is one workout per level. You move up as you feel ready. Each workout consists of a 2 minute warm-up, 3-6 minute interval trainings and a 2 minute cool down. Each 6 minute interval consists of 3 minutes of strength training, 2 minutes of cardio and 1 minute of abs. Very simple.

3. All you need is a set of small dumbbells and a mat, that is literally it. Some moves I only use one 5 lb. dumbbell right now and others I use both.

4. The moves are super easy, this is great for beginners. You do not have to be a super-athlete to be able to bust out these moves. There's push-ups, lunges, crunches, easy, easy!

5. Since there are only three workouts and you slowly progress from one Level to the next, it could get a little boring. But, they are so easy to memorize, that if you are out of town or something you very easily do it by yourself.

6. You don't have to count any reps! Ok, I am very much a multi-tasker, being a Mom there is no alternative, I also like to think of myself as an intelligent human being; however, I cannot count reps of exercises while I am doing them! I have to focus too hard on breathing correctly, that I always forget to count! But, these are timed exercises, so you just have to push yourself to get as many reps in as you can, but you don't feel defeated when she says STOP! because you don't have a number plastered in your brain you are trying to get to.

7. The DVD costs $8.99. Seriously! I am not kidding, and you can get it at Wal-Mart or Target. I got mine on Amazon.com.

8. She uses a teeny tiny bit of foul language, nothing derogatory at all, but I'm just warning everyone. I didn't even catch it the first night (probably because I was breathing so hard I could barely hear the sound coming out of the DVD player). But I did last night and it is minor and it's nothing you wouldn't hear on a regular TV program these days.

9. Jillian Michaels is a great motivator. I was doing the last set of abs on the first night and it's bicycles and you do them s-l-o-w. It's kind of torture, but listen to her. She talks about each muscle you are working while doing them, then she says, keep pushing, I know your tired and I know you just got a big knot in your stomach...hold up, wait...how did she know that! I mean I literally had just cringed b/c of the knot I had and she said that. She gets it, she knows it hurts, but she keeps saying how the pain is your body getting stronger. I love that, it makes you think of the hurt in a totally different way, it's not nagging me, it's just something I have to push through!

Well, that's my two cents, I'll try to do a weekly post of my results the other levels!

Happy Birthday Babe!

Today is my hubby's birthday! No if, ands or buts (no pun intended). On Saturday, I decided to help Jeff out and wash my car. Ben knows that means he can play in the water, so he wanted to put on his "swimming pool shorts". So we go upstairs put on our Elmo swim trunks, slather on the sunscreen and off we go. Jeff decided he'd go ahead and water the yard, so he asked Ben if he wanted to play in the sprinkler and the rest is history...while I was washing my car, Ben came back over and sat in the shade and sipped on some gatorade and then was just kind of wandering around the driveway. I had one eye on him and one on my car and the next thing I hear is Ben say he was done playing in the water. I look over and he is standing on the edge of the driveway, naked as a jaybird, holding his Elmo swim trunks in his hand. I explained that we shouldn't be naked in the front yard (yes, occasionally he has been nude in the backyard :)) and I proceed to dry him off. I told him to go in the house and go put his underwear and shorts back on and come right back. Lesson # 12,624 since becoming a parent: Never trust a red headed, three and a half year old little boy! It had been a few minutes, so I go in the house and find this...

That little stinker, got in the pantry, got out a pop-tart and hopped up on the bar stool in the buff. I was laughing so hard I was crying. Oh the joys of parenthood! He, of course, thought nothing of it. He told me he got hungry on his way upstairs and stopped to "take a little break and have a snack". I love him so much! I have a feeling I am paying for my raising right about now!!!!

Happy, Happy Easter, Jesus is Risen!

Happy belated Easter to everyone, as usual, I've been pretty busy. Ben had his first choir performance last week, actually his first performance of any kind and he did well. He didn't sing one word, even though he knew them all, but he stood up there the whole time. He cried a little and wanted to come sit with me, but he didn't. His shoe was untied and he couldn't think about anything else. Oh! and he had his first kiss, I think it was mutual, but they definitely smooched each other. He has good taste, that's all I'll say! Overall, I say it was a success...he didn't pick his nose or grab any body parts, so I was proud of him!

He had a few Easter egg hunts and did really well, I know he really enjoys doing that! Now, another week is almost gone and this weekend we have NO PLANS and I am excited about that! It seems like we have been going 90 to nothing these days, I am ready to enjoy this beautiful weather and play outside with my boys. Happy Spring everyone and have a great weekend!

29 and holding steady!

Well, I have officially entered into my last year of my "twenties". I really can't believe it. That means my baby will be turning 4 this year, in 4 more months. I am not ready for this! I remember turning 20 and feeling like, wow, I am a real adult now, HA! Let's see, 20, no kids, no boyfriend, no job, playing volleyball and in college about to transfer to Tarleton from a Junior College, yep, BIG responsibilites! Met Jeff not long after that, got engaged, graduated college, got married and started my life, or so I thought! After 2 years of marriage decided we were ready (or as ready as you think you can be) for a baby. Got pregnant at 24, had Ben when I was 25 and the rest is a blur...literally! I have made so many new friends, met so many new people, have grown into an amazing relationship with my sister (we are a year apart, so we pretty much fought until we were 19 & 20, need I say more). My relationships with all of my family have changed. I now "get it" about being a Mom, the things you can't explain, the way your heart feel like it might literally burst with love, the frustration, the guilt, the way you are so proud of someone for doing the little things, how much a hug and a sugar mean. Man, the last 9 years have been the hardest, the best, the most fufilling, satisfying, doubt causing, wonderful years. So next year will be the big 3-0! Jeff keeps giving me a hard time about this, but I just sweetly remind him that if I am turning 30, he is turning 35! LOL!
Onto my life lately...sick, sick and more sick. If this weather could make up it's mind, and by that I mean just come on and get warm and stay warm, my sinuses would not feel like I have the Great Wall of China up there! Ben had a little 4 hour stomach bug on Saturday and we've all just been kind of blah. However, we are having all of Jeff's family over on Saturday for a brisket cook out. Can't wait...I need to get home and clean!

Giveaway...

A sweet friend of mine, Mandy, over at Burkett Blessings (http://burkettblessings.blogspot.com/) is having a giveaway, and not just any giveaway, one she made! Oh man, I have been so bad about working out lately! This weather hasn't been helping much either. It takes WAY too much motiviation to get out in the freezing cold garage to pump some iron, do some abs and hop on the treadmill. I mean, you can only run in so many layers of clothing, seriously! Today is the day, I'm hopping back on folks, full steam ahead. My sister got engaged over Christmas with a very open ended wedding date, well, that has turned into sometime this summer. Since I am blessed to be her Matron of Honor (whoa, that makes me sound really old) I need to get my rear in gear. I would love to say I looked better on her wedding day than my own! I need to do this for me and my family! Dear Jesus, please help me get out there and work it out today, I need it mentally and physically. Amen.

P.S. I wrote this on here hoping I would feel really guilty if I didn't work out tonight after I publicly state that I intend on working out :)

What did I do this weekend?

A whole lotta this...and it was wonderful!

Grandparents

A very good friend of mine (since 2nd grade) had sent me a quick e-mail over the weekend letting all of us girls know that her grandpa had been diagnosed with cancer and was taking chemo, but wasn't expected to recover and has been given a poor prognosis. This got me to thinking...thinking about how wonderful grandparents are and were. I had the BEST grandparents ever and I am still fortunate enough to still have two of them here on Earth. I lost my Nana (my Mom's mom) almost 11 years ago, I was a senior in high school. I can remember the day like it was yesterday. I lost my Pepa (my Dad's dad) 6 years ago, he had battled prostate cancer.

I learned so much from both my Nana and my Pepa. My Nana, was sick since I can remember. She had a brain tumor that they discovered right around the time I was born, they operated, she died several times on the operating table, but they brought her back each time and she made it through. She was beautiful, inside and out and God wasn't done using her not only to impact my life but SEVERAL others. She looked just like Shirley Temple as a little girl and she gave me my love of music. She taught me a few songs on the piano. My sister got her artistic side, they both can draw and do such neat, creative things. (For the record, I cannot draw a stick figure, but my sis can't carry a tune, isn't that funny?) She also taught me not to judge a book by it's cover. After her surgery, she was unable to walk and her appearance had changed. She had to have one of her eyes slightly sewn shut b/c she could no longer blink, but she was still beautiful. I never thought of her any other way than that. She used to take my sister and I to Target, along with Starlett (she watched my Nana during the day and was like a second grandmother to all of us). She would give us each $5 to get ANYTHING we wanted. I still have a CareBear that I bought w/ that $5, I know, I just totally aged myself! But she would sit at the snack bar there and off we would go with Starlett, usually straight to the toy aisle. One day, I already knew what I had wanted, I had been thinking about it since the last time I had been there with her and so I got done early, so I went back to hang out with Nana. A little girl and her mother were sitting at another booth and the little girl kept staring at my Nana, I had NO idea why, but Nana knew she looked different, I didn't, but she did. Nana asked the little girl if she wanted to know why she looked different and so she sat there and explained everything to this little girl. I'll never forget that as long as I live, what a testimony and legacy she left in 15 minutes that day. She loved to watch us play sports in High School and I loved having her there. She doted on us all the time. How amazing that I got to spend so much time with her as a small girl.

My Pepa was a man's man. He worked hard for everything that he and my Mema ever had and still have. His parents were immigrants from Czechoslovakia. He was a WWII veteran who earned a purple heart. He had six children, all of whom do very well for themselves and are extremely intelligent. My Dad raised me a lot like my Pepa raised him. You just need to learn how to do things for yourself, so you don't have to depend on anyone. Be self sufficient. That is one thing I do like about myself, I can change a car battery, change a tire, put together furniture, things like that that most (not all) women can't or don't do. I had the privilege in my high school World History class to do a project and we had to interview someone about an historic world event, well who do you think I called on? PEPA! Now, you have to understand, Pepa was a very quiet guy, but he had the best sense of humor. He would make a quiet joke that you had to be listening for to hear it. And he had the best smile...so, he let me come to their house and sit down and ask him all kinds of questions. He was shot in both knees because they were hanging out of a foxhole he was doubled over in. He had to drink his own urine to not dehydrate and to keep himself alive. A true hero. I get so emotional when our church does our Veteran's Day service, I just think about him and what he physically, spiritually and emotionally went through over there for me and everyone else. And I miss him. He was able to see me get married, I will always be grateful to God for that. He told me I looked beautiful and had that handsome smile on his face even though he felt horrible.

It's hard to believe that I am getting older and the inevitable happens. I am so thankful that both of my grandparents had relationships with Christ her on Earth and I can rest comfortably knowing they are in Heaven. If they were still on Earth, they wouldn't be able to see me all the time and everything I do, like they do in Heaven. I would have LOVED for Ben to get to meet them and someday he will and I'll get to see them again too!

Giveaway-Check out HER Blog!!

A good friend of mine is hosting an awesome giveaway over on her blog! Well, the new year has come in like a lion, maybe it'll go out like a lamb. I guess I'll play catch-up...Christmas was a blast. We stayed here and my family (we added a new member too, my sis got engaged! Woo Hoo, love you Jake!) came to Tyler. We had such a good time. My hometown got slammed with a real-life blizzard, the weather was horrible and several of my friends and their spouses were stranded on the highway, unbelievable! So, my parents got stuck at my house an extra day, too bad ;)

The Mr. and I have started P90X...again...yes, this is the third time, but the last two times were when we sold our house and then started building the new one. So gimme a break! I have an alumni volleyball game at Tarleton State University (the place where the Mr. and I met and fell in LOVE!) in a few weeks, so I am really trying to work out everyday. It's tough waiting for Ben to go to bed everynight so we can slip in a workout, but so worth it. I really feel better already! Oh and a few weekends ago, I went to my parent's house and my sister was there and she talked me into running 4 miles with her...what? She knew I wouldn't say no...and I did it! Yes, I was tired, yes it was uphill both ways :), but I.DID.IT. I was so proud of myself. It's really hard for someone who played sports from 3rd grade Little Dribblers all the way through my senior year of college to have realized that I have "let myself go". I don't like this feeling at all, but I am doing something about it. I have my priorities straight now, my heart is right and I am really incorporating my relationship with Christ into this endeavor and that's the best move I have made yet. Every night I kiss Ben and tell him that Mommy and Daddy are going to be exercising, if you need us we are in the garage. He asked me the other night, "Why are you extercizing?" I told him that Jesus says that we should take care of our bodies since He gave them to us. He said, "You're right Mommy, Jesus loves us and want us to love ourselves and one another!" My sweet little boy, with a such a good memory. He loves to learn about Jesus. So, that about sums it up around the Coke Household...OH! Do you like the look of the blog? Figured it needed a change too! Ben is very much into everything this year. He is ready to open some presents!! Since my last post, we have had Thanksgiving, which was a blast, we saw my Mema (Dad's mom), Dat (Mom's dad) and LOTS of Aunts and Uncles. Ben did so good in the car the whole time and was such a trooper. He has fun every year. We've been getting ready for Christmas...shopping, cooking, decorating and this weekend...CLEANING!!! My side of the family is coming to our new house this year and we couldn't be more excited! I feel like I am now able to focus on them getting here. I've helped host ( along w/ three great gals and friends) our Sunday School party, Ben had his canned food drive and Christmas party this week and now it's my turn. It's been a busy season so far, but it's always a blast. I am ready to spend some time with my niece and nephew, I feel like I haven't see them in forever, we need a sleepover, pronto! I know Ben misses them too! Well, I hope all you out there have a very blessed Christmas and get to spend lots of time with those you love. Be sure you tell them you love them too! I have some random pics here of the last two months, yes, I am that far behind! MeRrY ChRiStMaS!!!!

WE HAVE MOVED!!!!

Ok, working, being a mommy, being a wife, moving and blogging DO NOT go together...at the same time at least! We have moved into our new house. We love it, especially Ben. He says we don't live in the barn anymore, we live at the new house. His teacher said at the "tool center" at school Ben gets his buddies to help him build the new house. So sweet, totally makes it all worth it, since we did it mostly for him anyway! God has definitely blessed us with a home we can serve him in. Here are a few pictures...enjoy!!

Slow Down

Wow, another month and a half is gone!!! Time has never flown so fast and been so slow all at the same time. Ben had a birthday...A MONTH AGO!!!! Yes, I am just now posting about it, don't make that face at me. He had a great time and really enjoyed hanging out with his school friends and cousins!!! We are coming along on the house. My parents have graciously and lovingly offered to help us build our fence. Can't thank them enough!!! They are working on it now while I am at work. The painters are working diligently and should be done this weekend, then it's countertops and floors and then US!!! Can I just say I am loving this weather this week!! I am ready for apple cider, concession stand nachos and sitting out on my new patio watching Ben play in the cool, crisp Autumn air. I am also loving my new iPhone. I swore up and down I was NOT getting one and neither was my hubby, but I was wrong. I love that thing!!! That is part of the reason I haven't blogged in so long, I have discovered FaceBook!!! Well, it's back to work for me! Enjoy your day and God Bless!!!!

Away I Go...

I love/hate this time of year. Who wants to leave this little boy for even a minute??? Every year in July, my work sends our whole company to a "roundtable". We get to get some training, hang out w/ friends from our other offices we don't usually see very often and have a blast! We are going to Pottsboro this time to Lake Texoma. I have worked here for 6 years and so this is my 6th roundtable, but going on these trips ALL changed after Ben came along. This time is turning out to be my toughest. I feel like it is three days of being away...while we are building a house and my hubby is working VERY hard on that! I know B will do fine. He always does, but he is old enough now to know, I am leaving and he's at this rough stage of not minding/backtalking/yelling/tantrum throwing/whining business that I just know is stressful when you have to be by yourself w/ him for an extended period of time. So, I feel like I finally have that part under control and now I have to leave for three days. It makes a big difference...don't ask me why, but it does. Not to mention, my baby will be 3 in less than two weeks. It.is.unbelievable. Literally!

On another note, the house is really coming along. We should be in by the end of September, but it will be here before we know it. The house is fully sheetrocked, the stucco will be done today and the stone guys are hard at it today...and it looks AWESOME!!! I'll have to post some new pics ASAP.

Have a great weekend!!! I am horrible!!! I can't believe it's been over a month since I blogged. I think we took vacation and I just forgot! Sorry. Really, I have been waiting to post until I had some vacay pics, but I need my hubby to post on the other blog so I could "steal" them, not so fortunate! Maybe I'll get some free time at home to post some, ha! Well, vacation was SO fun. The kids had the best time and everytime we see any kind of marine animal Ben says, we saw that at Sea World at San Antonio! He seemed to have grown up on that trip a little, just talking so much more, but he is fixing to be 3 next month, ugh! I cannot believe it. He is very ready for his birthday party, he says, Mom (b/c he now refers to me as Mom instead of Mommy and I just heard every Mother's heart break out there) my birthday is coming up. Is my birthday next? I tell him no, but it's just around the corner. On the home front, the house is speeding along. We are super excited. When we left for vacation, we had a slab, and when we came back, we had a framed house. It was unbelievable. Jeff and I feel so blessed to be able to build such a wonderful home for our family. God is good all the time and all the time God is good!!!! They are working on our stucco now and will start the roof and stone work next week. We are hoping to get some sheetrock up soon, mostly b/c the house is a two story and Ben loves going up to his new room and there are no walls up there and no bannister on the stair case or on the walkway, let's just say it makes Mommy very nervous. Not to mention that he has already jumped off the first level of the stairs as well. This child has NO fear and I stood there and watched him just go for it. I gotta say, I kind of admired that about him, until he landed on a small piece of 2x4 w/ 4 nails in it!! AND as soon as he landed he started crying about his foot. All I could think was ER here we come, but he made a very brave recovery (the board just hit his foot, no nail trauma) and no ER needed here. That kind of makes me laugh, b/c I can vividly remember Ben's pediatrician telling me how surprised he was at Ben's 2 yr appt. that we had not brought him in yet for jumping off of anything and hurting himself. He said we must be very protective parents. I guess we'll get to put that off until we are at least 3!!! I wouldn't say I am protective, but I know my little boy and what he is capable of...he's just wild and ALL BOY!!!!!

My Big Boy

Ok, I had one of those moments and all you Moms out there know what I am talking about...my baby...isn't a baby anymore :( I just had this flash this morning of Ben being born and I got to hold him and kiss him and he was so little and today I send him to school in his big boy underwear! Where has the time gone??? Am I in the twilight zone or what?!?! My little 5lb 8oz, 19 in long infant is now a 32.6 lb, 38 in tall almost 3 year old. You would NEVER know he was 6 weeks premature right now. This has prompted me to list my 10 favorite things about Benjamin Michael Coke!!

1. His red hair! I love it, I love to put him in orange or red and really make it stand out! He got this from my Dat and that is also why I love it!

2. His love for music. This kid can sing ya'll. Not just saying that either and he will sit down and "play" the piano, not bang on it.

3. How he looks just like his Daddy (since Daddy is so cute too!), but does things like Mommy (the way he crinkles his nose up).

4. How he likes to grab my face and give me sugars on each part separately. He'll kiss your lips, each cheek, my nose and my forehead and he MEANS it!

5. How caring he is. If he steps on your foot or you hit your elbow on something, he will stop dead in his tracks to come give you a sugar on your boo boo and make it all better.

6. How he told his tee tee last night, bye bye, I love you tee tee. He tee tee'd in his little training potty and Jeff poured it in the big potty and Ben got flush and then told it bye bye! Hilarious!!

7. That his favorite restaurant is Jalapeno Tree, he is a man after my own heart. That is my favorite place and definitely not Jeff's, so I can play the "Ben loves that place" card and end up there every time! He loves the green "dippy" there!

8. The way he pretends. He likes to "make" lunch. He asks, "Whatchu whatchu whatchu want for lunch?". You tell him and he whips it up and gives it to you. He even remembers what you like and don't like!

9. He is a Momma's Boy and he will tell me too! I think he might even love me more than Scooby Doo!!!

10. He loves Academy. He literally asks me to take him there! He goes to the aisle with all the cars and pushes the buttons and dances to the songs they play. My little white boy has some rhythm now!

Well, that just skims the surface, but now maybe you all have learned a little bit about my little "B". Maybe more than you wanted to know... LOL!!!

My "Normal" Life

Well, we have a sinus infection and an ear infection, I cannot believe it! Ben got tubes on March 27th 2008. The left one fell out a few months ago and the right one is in the ear, but not doing anything. So, we may be travelling down the tube road again. It wasn't too bad last time except the anesthesia made him pretty sick and let's just say that the stuff that gets thrown up after having your tubes put in, isn't pretty AND it all happened to land on Mommy! That wasn't the first time and it won't be the last! So we stayed home yesterday and I worked from home and Ben played. He had been up ALL NIGHT coughing and throwing up from the coughing or "spitting out" as Ben calls it. We are also building our new house right now! We will have a slab next Wednesday, I can't wait! We are living in an apartment/barn w/ 800 square feet, need I say more? It is out on the lake where Jeff's parents live and it is so nice out there, but so far. It is a 30 minute drive to town. Ben did get to go fishing for the first time w/ his very own Scooby Doo fishing pole and see the picture! He caught this little perch and was SO excited. We get to do lots of neat things out there, not to mention Mamaw always provides us w/ an extra set of hands! However, this house will have plenty of room for us and for another baby one day!?! Ben is ready for a sibling...he told me he wants a little sister and he wants to name her Dennis! I don't think so, I do all the work, I name the baby, that's how it goes in our house anyway!!! So, right now, this is my "normal" life. I feel like I am going 80 ways at once right now. Work is stressful, but vacation is on the horizon! San Antonio here we come! Ben is ready for "bacation". He has no idea how much we are too! Until next time, God Bless!!!!

My First Blog

Hello World!

This is my first blog ever.
